The John Muir Women's Health Center is dedicated to providing accessible comprehensive health programs in a caring and supportive environment for women of all ages who are embracing motherhood, maintaining wellness or making life transitions. Our beautiful facility has a health and wellness resource library with brochures, books and videos. Also onsite is a boutique filled with lovely gifts, jewelry, parenting supplies and much more. Business Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00am - 7:00pm; and Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Classes are held seven days a week during day and evening hours.

Outreach Program

We provide a variety of speakers on women's topics to community groups, businesses and schools. Many programs listed in this section can be customized and provided at your facility. The John Muir Women's Health Center also partners with various community agencies.

Breastfeeding Support Program

Breastfeeding education and support is available from board-certified lactation consultants. The consultants can assist with breastfeeding problems and provide support for those returning to work. Breast pump sales and rentals, nursing bras, pillows and related supplies are available at the John Muir Women's Health Center Boutique.

Massage Therapy for Women

The benefits of massage are applicable to women of any age. Our certified massage therapists provide therapeutic massages at the John Muir Women's Health Center and the John Muir Physical Rehabilitation Center, Walnut Creek. Massage Therapy services include employer on-site massages, chair massages, and partial or full body massages. We provide three different massage techniques: Swedish, deep tissue and specialty pregnancy massages. Appointments are available days or evenings. Classes on infant massage are also offered.

Resource Center

Women can find information on a variety of health and wellness issues in the resource center's library, which is stocked with books, videos, brochures and reference books. A TV/VCR is available on-site for viewing educational videos.

The Wig Source

The John Muir Medical Center Auxiliary, Walnut Creek provides free wigs to women and children suffering hair loss due to medical treatment, such as chemotherapy for cancer. This service is provided regardless of where treatment is being received. Wig fitting appointments are available at the John Muir Women's Health Center.

John Muir Osteoporosis Center

The John Muir Osteoporosis Center, part of the John Muir Physician Network, provides comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. Bone densitometry testing of the spine and hip is offered in addition to peripheral bone density screening of the forearm and heel. A resource center with educational materials is available. Physician referral required for spine and hip scans.

Screening Mammography

Screening mammography is offered in a tranquil setting with state-of-the-art mammography equipment. Patients must have a physician to whom the results can be sent.
